Compensation:
Part-time, non-exempt $17 – 19 per hour. (16 - 30 hours per week).
[There is opportunity for upward mobility and increase in compensation as specified trainings are completed].

Animal Shelter Manager, Office Administrator

Supervision Exercised:
No supervisory responsibilities.

Job Definition: 
The Kennel Technician is a vital member of the animal care team responsible for maintaining a clean and healthy environment for shelter animals. This position involves daily kennel cleaning, animal feeding, basic medication administration, and ensuring the cleanliness of laundry and dishes. The Kennel Technician plays a key role in supporting the overall well-being of the animals in the shelter’s care. They are responsible for any and all animal related care and cleaning. They are directly responsible for the cleanliness of the animal kennels and the shelter as a whole.
 
Essential Duties:
The following duties are not intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by this position. The duties below are intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities. 
  • Kennel Cleaning
    • Clean and disinfect animal enclosures, including kennels, cages, and other housing areas, following established cleaning protocols.
    • Dispose of waste and debris properly and ensure a sanitary living environment for all animals.
  • Animal Feeding
    • Follow feeding schedules and guidelines to provide proper nutrition to all shelter animals.
    • Monitor animals during feeding for any signs of illness, refusal to eat, or abnormal behavior.
  • Basic Medications
    • Administer basic medications to animals as prescribed by the veterinary staff.
    • Maintain accurate records of medication administration and report any concerns to Management.
  • Laundry
    • ​​​​​​Clean and sanitize animal bedding, towels, and other laundry items.
  • Dishes
    • Wash and sanitize food and water bowls, toys, and other dishes used by shelter animals.
  • Animal Shelter Logs
    • ​​​​​​​Update the animal care log and communication log daily with relevant information.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education:  A high school diploma and/or an Associate's degree is preferred but is not required. 
Language Skills: Ability to read, write and speak English fluently. Ability to respond to employees, customers, regulatory agencies or authorities, or members of the local business community. Bilingual Spanish speaking skills are preferred.

Communication/Working Relationships:

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate and interact with all levels of the staff and the general public in a positive and cooperative manner.
